iEDGE Background
The iEDGE originated from the same team that was responsible for the original EDGE DS, which was a DS card designed to be used in
the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DS Lite consoles. Note that the iEDGE also works in the newer Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DSi XL consoles,
so in terms of compatibility it is certainly superior.
What made the original EDGE DS famous is its reliability and its packaging. To speak first for its reliability, the card was
very solidly constructed, possibly only second to the Acekard 2i and about on-par with the M3i Zero. It's rock solid. While we
wouldn't exactly recommend going around dropping it, it survived a few of those during our testing when the original one was
still around. The update, the iEDGE DS, is on sale now and it's good to know that the EDGE team have not tried to change something
that was already so good - the iEDGE is just as robust as its daddy.
The packaging for the iEDGE is also similar to its predecessor - sleek and sexy in a very unique triangular packaging. It makes the
DS / DSi card ideal as a gift, and does not look like a "standard box" package.
Using the iEDGE DS
The format of the menus in the iEDGE DS are modelled on the original R4 card. Three buttons represent games, media, and settings.
It's incredibly intuitive to use and a breeze for first time DS card or DSi card users to master.
Overall, we'd highly recommend the iEDGE as the best card a first time user can buy - and also a great all round DSi compatible card
suitable as a gift or even for the general enthusiast.
