3DS Firmware Update 3.0.0.6 Supported

The latest roll-out of 3DS firmware updates has just hit us. A few cards still have yet to fix it, but we do have a confirmed list of cards. Essentially, anything that supported 3DS v3.0.0.5 will work with no problems. As always, do not update your 3DS, or keep the wifi switch turned off, until your card is updated first. The only exception is the M3i Zero which does not depend on your 3DS model. Yes, the M3 Team has gone back to using the F_Core.dat usb cable method again, we’re definitely happy about that.

M3i Zero Fix for DSi v1.4.3 and 3DS v2.1.0-4X

Hello DS Fans,

If you’ve been a DSi card owner for long enough, you’ll probably have noticed that when the DSi v1.4.3 update rolled out, it took many manufacturers far longer then usual to get a fix out for their cards. We don’t have an explanation for that, but if you own an M3i Zero, the wait is over! You can download the latest fix from our website’s download page, bundled with the M3i Zero software. We recommend that you get it from us as to find it through the official manufacturer’s website http://www.m3adapter.com they’ll run you around at least two other websites before you find a long confusing list of files. The fix is a .nds file type, so if your DSi is already updated, find a friend with an older firmware version DSi, DS Lite, or 3DS to apply the update from the games menu.

Once you have the proper fix file downloaded, unzip the package and copy paste the file onto your micro sd with all of your game files. Once you boot up the M3i Zero, you can find the fix file in the main list. Make sure your battery is high! You wouldn’t want it to die while trying to flash your M3i Zero. DSi Console 1.4.3 Update Blocks DS Cards

Nintendo have just released yet another update for the DSi console that blocks most flash cards. The update might be in response to the 3DS’s 2.1.0.3 update (making both consoles compatible with each other) or it could just be another patch that temporarily disables homebrew applications. Regardless, we recommend that you do not update your DSi or DSi XL until manufacturers have fixes for the new 1.4.3 firmware ready.

There currently appears to be no noticable difference in system performance so it is widely believed the update exists for either 3DS compatibility or flash card blocking.

Nintendo 3DS v2.1.0-3X Firmware Update

The biggest news with the Nintendo 3DS has been undoubtedly the V2.0.0-2X firmware update. This brought with it many planned features for the 3DS, including the eShop. This update of course blocked all cards, and some of them have yet to release proper fixes for it. Of far less attention was the firmware update that came shortly after it, v2.1.0-3X. This update came in with little fanfare and many people did not realize it was released.

There was some fear that it would once again block cards, but from all reports, it has not affected any cards that did already work with v2.0.0-2X. This new release was just a hotfix for Ridge Racer that was experiencing repeated freezing even with the retail cartridge.

New DSI v1.4.2 Firmware Released -DO NOT UPDATE

Hello, we’re here again with another round of updates for all DSi and DSi xL consoles. The new update so far as known blocks all current cards on the market. There is a lot of misinformation out there about the R4i 3DS working on Dsi v1.4.2. We have thoroughly tested the R4i 3DS and it does NOT work on the new firmware. Please disregard other reports for now. As usual, we recommend that you refuse to update your DSi, it should be a voluntary process, simply avoid the DSi Ware store and System Update fuction.

For now we cannot claim that any of our current cards have DSi v1.4.2 functionality. The following cards will likely get updates in the coming couple of weeks as they are firmware flashable to counter such updates; the Acekard 2i, the EZFlash Vi, the M3i Zero, and the iEdge card. Please do not update your DSi consoles until fixes are confirmed to be available. You will likely not have a reason to update your DSi consoles in any case and you are always free to keep it at its current version.

Nintendo 3DS Compatible Cards

All DSi Cards at DSCardWorld Now v1.4.1 Compatible!

Every single card now sold at DSCardWorld will work out of the box on DSi v1.4.1. The letter at the end v1.4.1E and v1.4.1U does not matter as firmware is exactly the same. All cards will come with the latest updates pre-applied so there is no need to perform the risky flash process on the outset.

The R4i SDHC is a new model that is compatible with v1.4.1. Currently there is no fix to make a V1.4 compatible with v1.4.1. The iEdge was the last card to get the update, but the Edge team took the time to create their own fix rather then copying the Acekard 2i fix, and released it concurrently with new menu software updates. As before the EZFlash Vi never needed an update.

As always, simply tap the game icon to gain access to the menu once the files have been loaded onto the micro sd card. Currently our cards will show up as the following games.

New Fix For Some Cards

The Dsi 1.4.1 firmware has been out a few weeks and a handful of cards are confirmed to work with new updates. The following cards will work on DSi 1.4.1 cards; EZFlash Vi, Acekard 2i, and M3i Zero.

The first team to release an update was the Acekard 2i. Below are detailed instructions on how to make your card function properly with DSi 1.4.1. To flash the firmware of an Acekard it will require a DSLite or a DSi 1.4.0. If you have already updated your DSi then you will have to borrow a unit that will allow access to the Acekard menu. Download the latest fix here and load it onto your micro sd card in place of your current menu.

As you load up the DSi tap the icon to access the Acekard menu as normal. Once you’re in the menu find the update file ak21fw_update_141_DSi.nds and select it.
A blue screen will pop up with instructions to push start. This will begin the flashing process. As the text says, it’s important not to interrupt the process, it shouldn’t take more then a minute.
Once it is completed, you may reboot your DS console.
Once you reboot you will find that the Acekard now shows up as Alex Rider: Stormbreaker.

The EZFlash Vi works with out the need for any fix!

DSi 1.4.1 Firmware Fixes for Acekard 2i / EZFlash Vi / M3i Zero

Dear customers and friends,

If you checked out our previous post you’ll notice that the new update for the DSi blocks flash cards from functioning. We’ve put in some research after we caught wind of new fixes being released and we have the latest up to date information here.

The EZFlash Vi completely escaped getting blocked. That’s right, it was never blocked by 1.4.1. They were the first to release a work around for DSi 1.4 and that has seemed to carry them through this round of updates with flying colors. You can get an EZFlash Vi card here.

The Acekard 2i has a brand new firmware released with a new game icon, Alex Rider: Stormbreaker. We will be udpating our software soon, but you can check out the official Acekard website here http://www.acekard.com/download.php. All new cards purchased from DSCardWorld will be updated so that it works with upgraded DSi consoles right out of the box. You can get an Acekard 2i from here.

Finally (for now), the M3i Team has also released a new F_Core.dat firmware flash that switches the previous game Danny Phantom to the same as the Acekard team Alex Rider: Stormbreaker. All M3i Zero cards sold on DSCardWorld now will incorporate this update so you won’t have to flash your card. You can get an M3i Zero here.

We have yet to hear results on any of the other cards we sell. Please be patient and we will report additional fixes as they are released.

New DSi Firmware blocks cards!!! Again…

Hello, quick note, as of today there was a series of updates from Nintendo from 1.4.1 to 1.4.2 for DSi systems that effectively blocks ALL of our cards. We’ve yet to confirm all the details, and this storm of updates might not be over yet. For now do NOT perform any updates, or use the DSi Store on your DSi and DSi XL/LL systems.

In August of 2009 Nintendo released a new firmware update to their DSi system that effectively blocked ALL flash cards from booting their custom firmware. It took weeks to develop the workaround, but it’s been over a year since any update to the system has come up. This update comes as somewhat of a shock to the community. Hopefully users will recall what happened with the 1.3 to 1.4 update and refrain from updating their systems. Here is the quote from the Nintendo Update Page

With the huge release of Pokemon Black & White, and the Nintendo 3DS Release Date announcement on the horizon community experts speculate that Nintendo is trying to clamp down control before moving forward. There is also a Wii update that also blocks homebrew applications from running that was released simultaneously. This is following on Sony’s new strategy for blocking custom run applications on their PS3 and PSP systems and seems to be an industry trend.

This new update was released on Sept. 7th 2010 as 1.4.1 and blocked the vast majority of cards including the Acekard 2i, M3i Zero, R4i, iEdge and the Supercard DSTWO. It seemed like the EZFlash Vi and iPlayer safe, but Nintendo followed up the patch with 1.4.2 less than two days later which effectively blocks every card on the market. Updates to the DSi are completely voluntary, only required for heavy online games like Phantasy Star and the DSiWare shop. Users are encouraged NOT to update as it will render their flash cards useless.

There is no telling how soon updates and workarounds will be released until the developers have had time to investigate. There is no known improvement to the DSi system, or function, this update merely blocks flash cards from operating. Patience is required to allow the development teams time to analyze the problem and ensure their card’s future support, but as long as the update is ignored it’s business as usual.

As we get further details we will report them here.
